The honor of being the 2021 Deschutes County Fair & Rodeo Queen goes to Avalon Irwin!
Avalon Irwin is the oldest daughter of Brent and Julie Irwin. She grew up in Central Oregon where she fell in love with the livestock and agricultural community. In high school she had the opportunity to work summers as a wrangler at a local barn, taking people on trail rides. She loves teaching others about horses and our western heritage.
She currently works at Eastmont School as a pre-school teacher. She spends her time off helping out at various farms and barns to learn more about the industry. She graduated from Biola University in Southern California with a Bachelor's degree. She hopes to earn her Master's degree and go on to start a youth program where students from all over the country can come and learn about agriculture and livestock.
Avalon is very excited to represent the Deschutes County Fair and Rodeo as their Queen this year, along with her two horses; Mr. T and Twiggy. Their journey together through OHSET, the Oregon High School Equestrian Teams, and other competitions have really shaped who Avalon is today as a horsewoman. Her goal this year is to give back to the community that has given so much to her. Nothing brings her more joy than getting to teach little ones about the animals that make our lifestyle so great. If you see her or one of her horses around please don't hesitate to say hi, they love meeting people!
