Five days of non-stop fun, including Concerts, Carnival rides, Cotton Candy, Rodeo, Contests, Food and more; each year the Fair & Rodeo is an event you do not want to miss. Deschutes County Fair & Expo produces the annual Fair & Rodeo, and hosts almost 400 other unique events on its 320 acre property in Redmond OR. We are looking for energetic community members to join our team to help make magic happen, right here in Oregon.

ABOUT THE JOB
The Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center is hiring temporary, on-call employees to join the team that helps make the largest event in Central Oregon happen, the 103rd Annual Fair and Rodeo!

We will be hiring for the following positions:
Maintenance/Janitorial:
This position is responsible for the general appearance and upkeep of the Fair & Expo complex. Typical responsibilities may include picking up or emptying trash cans and replacing trash can liners, clearing or wiping tables, sweeping, mopping, replacing used paper products, general space or restroom cleanup, minor maintenance; and other duties as assigned.

Vehicle/Tractor Drivers:
This position is responsible for the safe and responsible operation of vehicles including but not limited to: tractors, light duty trucks, golf carts, side by sides, or other approved vehicles; also responsible for working with others to ensure the safe upkeep of the Fair & Expo property including picking up trash, emptying and replacing trash can liners, and other general maintenance or clean up as assigned.


Food & Beverage Staff:
Working independently or with others this position is responsible for the operation of a single stand-alone food & beverage location or locations at the Fair & Expo campus. Typical responsibilities may include general preparation of food, use of BBQ's, fryers, or microwaves; and service of food to customers. May require the use of a cash register for the sales of items, and the knowledge of typical POS. Position will also be responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of assigned area of work, including wiping counters, picking up trash, emptying trash cans, and other duties as assigned.

Compensation

Wages starting at $16.00 per hour. There are no County benefits available with these temporary, on-call positions.

Necessary Special Requirements

The employment offer may be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.

Positions require moderate to heavy physical efforts; depending on area of assignment may be exposed to safety hazards and dangerous tools and equipment. Must have the ability to stand/walk for long periods of time. Work in adverse weather conditions (hot/sunny to cold/rainy/wintery days).
