The honor of being the 2023 Deschutes County Fair & Rodeo Queen goes to Simone Sutton!
Our Deschutes County Fair & Rodeo 2023 Queen is Simone Sutton, the 21 year old daughter of Michelle Gutmann and Owen Sutton Ill. She is currently a sophomore at Central Oregon Community College and hopes to begin studies at Oregon State University Cascades in the fall of 2023. She has a career goal of becoming a social worker so she can continue to help her community and those in need in Deschutes County and the surrounding areas.
Currently Simone works at Westside Pet Hospital full time as a client service representative and helps as a veterinary assistant when needed. She has worked in the veterinary field for close to five years and absolutely loves her job and the field in which she works.
In her earlier youth she was in 4-H for several years and learned many skills. She's been riding horses since she was two years old and has participated in many different disciplines riding many different horses. She has been lucky enough to train and work with mustangs, thoroughbreds, haflingers, Arabians and a variety of other breeds. Throughout these years she has competed in vaulting, equitation, barrel racing and pole bending. She has also done jumping, cross country, trail riding and liberty work throughout her time working with horses.
Presently she has a six year old quarter horse mare named Fawn. She has been her rodeo partner for the past year . Fawn was bred for cutting, but so far they have done many other things as well. The pair have barrel raced at play days, but have also tracked steers, jumped, gone on trail rides, attended obstacle courses and look forward to trying many more things in the future.
